Stop Overcomplicating It: Here’s What You Actually Need to Start Making Money as a Coach or Consultant
You don’t need a logo.
You don’t need a website.
You don’t even need a business name.
At least not yet.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a coaching or consulting business, but feel like you’re stuck in the “planning” stage because you don’t have all the things—this post and episode are for you.
There’s a LOT of noise out there about what it takes to start. A lot of people will try to convince you that you need a complicated tech stack or a beautifully branded site before you can get a single client.
I’m here to tell you: that’s backwards.
A Quick Reality Check
I’ve seen this so many times: Someone decides they’re going to launch a business… and immediately goes on a buying spree. They hire a web designer, get sucked into a funnel-building course, and spend weeks tweaking a logo.
All without signing a single client.
What you need at the beginning is not a pretty storefront. It’s proof of concept. You need to know someone will actually pay you for your offer.
That’s what this episode is all about—getting you to that first paid session with the fewest expenses possible.
A Few Tools That Will Help (All Free or Almost Free)
Without giving too much away, in the episode I break down:
- The one paid tool I recommend (and it’s not what you think)
- My favorite free app for taking client call notes (seriously, this one’s gold)
- The easiest way to get paid—even if you’re not “official” yet
