Fast Growth Strategies for Your Coaching Business
Most coaches and consultants start marketing too soon. Before they’ve built a program that they’re sure their clients want to buy. Before they’ve thought about whether what they’re charging results in a profitable business. And before they’ve figured out how they’re going to close sales.
I know it seems like marketing is the thing you should be doing to get rolling and start growing fast. But that’s exactly the thing that’s slowing you down. Because it doesn’t matter how much marketing you do – if the other parts of your business aren’t working – you aren’t going to get results.
If you’re spending a bunch of time on social media or other marketing and it’s not moving the needle maybe you’re trying to solve the problem by:
-
- Posting more
-
- Adding more platforms (threads, bluesky, TikTok)
-
- Coming up with more funnels
Do you see the theme here? More more more?
But the real reason you’re frustrated is you’re trying to solve the wrong problem. The real key isn’t more marketing, it’s fixing the stuff that happens before marketing. Because when you start with marketing, you’re actually building your business backwards.
So I want to do a quick check in with you right now. Can you answer these 3 questions about your business?
-
- What problem are you solving
-
- Who do you solve it for
-
- Why does it matter to them to solve the problem
If you can’t clearly and succinctly answer those questions – honestly – and don’t get mad at me for saying this – you’re probably marketing too early.
So if more marketing isn’t the answer – what should you focus on? My recommendation would be to focus on your offer – your program – the thing you sell.
This week’s episode of The GenXpert Show includes 3 things you can do right now to make that offer stronger.
