The #1 Coaching Program Mistake
If you’re a coach or consultant it means you have knowledge to share. You’re an expert!
But having tons of wisdom doesn’t mean you have to pack every single bit of it into one coaching program. If you can, put yourself into a beginner’s shoes. If you try to convey all the things it took you years to learn into a 6-8 week program, you’re going to make their heads explode.
We love our clients. So we definitely don’t want a bunch of exploding heads!
There are a couple of reasons trying to stuff too much stuff into your coaching and consulting program is hurting sales.
- People want things to be easy. If they see your program has 137 steps, they are going to see if they can find someone else who can make it easier.
- People want to believe that they can make it to the goal using your system. If it’s too complex, their self-doubt is going to creep in. So they may decide the transformation is too hard and give up.
- People need to trust you. If you take someone who hates to write and tell them that you can help them write, publish and sell a best-seller in a weekend, they’re going to be skeptical which means they’re less likely to buy.
To create a more buy-able program we need to make it approachable and understandable.
One way to do this is to look at your entire continuum of knowledge and pick out a specific segment. Look for a series of 3-5 steps that will help get someone who has a frustration or problem to a new way of doing things or a new way of thinking. And then build your program around that.
